Have you ever tried Kundalini Yoga? A couple of weeks ago I was invited to join an hour of yoga class led by Ms. Rosan Cruz, a certified yoga teacher. I was excited mainly because it was my first time. I've been to a couple of fitness-related events like zumba, running, health-related product launching, spa experience but never been to any type of yoga class. My knowledge about it is somewhat limited yet it's something I really find interesting.

So, I said yes and committed to attend because it was on a Saturday afternoon - probably less or minimal traffic along EDSA. Our Kundalini yoga class was held at Discovery Primea in Makati which I am also excited to see. We've been Club Paradise in Palawan and Discovery Shores Boracay and had a really wonderful experience.

We were happy with our yoga mats. I got the light green one. We also received a gift from ZeNutrient. The yoga session started with a short introduction about kundalini yoga. It helps release stress, tension, and negative energy through a series of dynamic Kundalini Yoga poses also known as kriyas. The movements not only released physical tension but encouraged mindfulness and positivity that allowed participants to radiate love and beauty after the revitalizing session. No previous experience in yoga is required to achieve results from the very first class, and it is suitable for students of all levels. Rosan taught us breathing exercises - fast nose breathing. Then she demonstrated basic Kundalini yoga poses - the mountain and child poses.

At first, I find it difficult to bend down and reach the floor (child pose) with my head. Then, I felt my forehead touches the floor. I did it! The jogging in place and punching the air were too exhausting but fun. It helps release anger, fear, anxiety among others. Maybe because I really lack exercise so I easily get tired. Keeping in mind what my husband told me not to stop at the middle of any running activity, I continued but this time, a bit slower. Then, I followed Rosan's instructions.
If there's one thing I missed was asking our teacher Rosan about yoga in relation to other religion. I've been very open with my Christian faith. There are events that I have to decline because it's not in line with what I believe. Don't get me wrong, I respect what you and others believe. During the meditation, I kept in mind my one and only God. Remembering His words written on the bible. I truly believe that yoga is a great way to be physically fit so I applied the physical aspect while meditating like I did when reading the bible. If you will ask me if I will still attend another yoga class, I will said 'yes'.
Our Kundalini Yoga Class lasted about an hour. I felt my body, specially my leg, arm muscles stretched. Post yoga, the next day there's slight pain on my shoulders but I let it heal naturally. Every time I exercise, I apply the yoga poses I learned from teacher Rosan. I can twist my legs and turn on my sides and it was very relaxing afterwards. The jogging in place was great, I do it every morning, I full 2 minutes.

After yoga, we were all excited for the meryenda. We were ushered to one of Discovery Primea's function rooms where a healthy yet tasty snacks are ready to serve. I couldn't say no to cappuccino when I saw their sophisticated coffee machine. It reminds me of Discovery Shores Boracay. There were about four kinds of sandwiches Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese Bagel, Prosciutto and Brie Croissant, and Grilled Balsamic Marinated Vegetable Focaccia Sandwich. I tried Beef and Mushroom Pie and Smoked Salmon with cheese.

It was a wonderful Kundalini Yoga experience. Rosan was very accommodating and friendly. Don't worry if it's your first time and have no idea how to do yoga poses. Rosan told us to feel that you're doing it right. It's okay if I can't reach my toes but with constant practice and exercise, in no time I will do it right.
