Now is the time the community should be warned of rainy season related diseases and health problems. One is the Dengue Fever, an infectious disease caused by dengue virus. With high incidents during the rainy season where a female Aedes Aegypti mosquito (the primary dengue mosquito carrier) can lay 60-100 eggs each time.
Efforts were made to prevent and protect the community against dengue mosquito. However, on a recently held press conference, Dr. Barbara Lavina Caoili, Philippine Association of Entomologists Secretary said that there’s a secondary vector of dengue virus called the Aedes Albopictus.
Ae. Albopictus is now present in places where humans are staying. This dengue mosquito bites most aggressively from late afternoon hours and this biting behavior stretches until nighttime.
During the press conference, Dr. Barbara Lavina Caoili, Philippine Association of Entomologists Secretary mentioned several factors raising Dengue threat. It includes the following: Climate Change and Global Warming, Widespread travel, Global Trade and Weak Mosquito Control.
Dr. Caoili added that dengue can be a year-long threat during both the dry and wet seasons as long as there are breeding sites for the dengue-lamok aside from becoming a round-the-clock threat, with dengue mosquito biting during the day as well as night.
With increasing Dengue threats the community should be informed of ways how to prevent and protect their family against the dengue mosquitoes. These must be in place during the day and through the night. One effective measure is the use of insect repellent lotion, one that is effective against dengue-mosquito that bite during daytime and nighttime.
Endorsed by the Philippine Association of Entomologists, the new Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion is said to be effective against dengue lamok. It provides longer lasting protection time, anti-dengue and anti-bacterial protection. This product is hypoallergenic and child-friendly as well.
Green Cross Insect Repellent is available in two variants, Family Protect and Active Protect.
Active Protect (blue bottle) for maximum protection up to 10 hours while the pink bottle Family Protect provides protection that lasts more than 4 hours.
For many reasons, we need a round-the-clock protection against dengue. The new Green Cross Insect Repellents are available in 100ml bottle at Php110-119 and 50ml bottles (Php61) in leading supermarkets and drug store.
