When I accepted the offer to migrate in the US, I told myself that I’ll be spending most of my time traveling just to keep myself busy. I was ready to leave but suddenly my life changed that I couldn’t even find my way back… As I dwell in joy on my life’s sudden change I found myself discovering a lot of things, places and meeting new and old friends.
Few weeks after our trip to Malaysia via Zest Air, Jonel and I together with nine travel bloggers were invited for an overnight stay in Puerto Del Sol in Bolinao, Pangasinan.
Our plan is to make it in Puerto del Sol early morning of Saturday. We decided to meet at Five Star Bus Terminal in Cubao around 11pm and catch the 12 midnight bus to Bolinao. They say it would take 6 hours going to Puerto Del Sol. Unfortunately, there were a lot of passengers bound to Bolinao too and the last bus just left before we arrived. Plan B is to wait for the air-conditioned bus coming from Pasay terminal. Yes, it came but it’s already full. A unanimous decision to take a bus going to San Fernando Pampanga was the remedy.
Two hours later we arrived at San Fernando Pampanga and not too long a non-air-conditioned bus arrived heading Bolinao. It was the start of a long journey, while my fiancé and most of them asleep, others enjoying Tagalog movies including me.
Good morning Bolinao! (Photo taken using BlackBerry 9220)
This is the town of Bolinao where air is fresh and the wind is cool.
It’s time for breakfast when we arrived at the town proper. And what else do you think we must eat? Of course the province is known for Daing na Bangus with sinangag (fried rice) and egg.
Falls! Most of us wanted to change our clothes, take a bath and excited to see the falls. Our plan of just staying less than an hour exceeded since the weather is good and the view calls for photo opportunities.
Halo-Halo! I knew it, fiancé will ask me to buy him halo-halo. Even my blogger friends enjoyed a glass of all-time Filipino favorite, thirst quencher snack mixed with milk, banana, pearls (sago), gelatin (gulaman) topped with ube for only P15.
The heat of the sun couldn’t stopped us dipped our bodies in the cold water. This was the second falls we visited.
A private van fetched us at Bolinao Town proper. From there, we passed by two falls before heading to Puerto Del Sol.
Hotel staff were waiting at the reception area and immediately offered a welcome glass of refreshing cold buko juice and seashell necklace.
Our weekend relaxation just started as we set foot at the hotel. I'm so grateful that I can go on a vacation because of my flexible online job.
Our accommodation
A wonderful vacation is being close to nature, I’m glad there are trees and flowers all over the hotel premises.
We stayed at the 2nd floor mansion villa. There’s a veranda offering a perfect view of the entire hotel, facing the pool and overlooking the beach.
The bedroom has furnished with 21 inches television with satellite cable and mini ref. There’s a water dispenser outside the room shared by guests at the 2d floor. My only complaint is the lack of WIFI connection and poor internet signal inside the room, we can’t even use our own pocket WIFI device.
The bathroom has enough space for bathing and personal care. There’s hot and cold water and has complete toiletries too.
One of the notable amenities of Puerto Del Sol is their adult and kiddie pool.
Relaxing beds are available near the swimming pool and at the center is the bar where you can order cocktail drinks.
How about outside Jacuzzi? It was one of my favorite spot located near the pool and the bar. While others were busy walking by the bay, some of us spent few hours in the warm water, removing fatigue and stress.
From Villas, Casitas and Suites, Puerto del Sol offers a wide range of accommodation that fits your budget and needs.
We had a tour around the hotel facilities and peek most of the rooms. You may stay in a deluxe room or the nipa hut.
Stairs going to the 2nd floor mansion villa.
The Mansion Villa is a two-storey building in the Mediterranean style. Each unit has two twin beds with individual verandas and can accommodate 2 to 4 persons.
CASITAS or family suite has two bedroom detached units, which can accommodate up to four people with living and dining area. It has an all glass wall with sliding doors, giving you a view of the South China Sea. Standard occupancy of 4 persons can be maximum of 7 persons.
They have 14 detached units or NIPA HUTS which can accommodate up to maximum of four to five guests. A relaxing serene surroundings of the resort. The nipa huts are also the most affordable accommodation at Puerto del Sol.
We’re on the planning stage of our wedding when we visited Puerto del Sol. When I saw their FAMILY ROOM, a dormitory style accommodation that has a seven single bunk bed in each room I thought it could be a perfect accommodation for the entire family, the entourage and other guests. Well, just in case you’re on a tight budget otherwise choose the BAHAY KUBO (premier suite).
BAHAY KUBO (premier suite), a two-storey single detached unit and is said to be inspired by the traditional Filipino dwelling place. A spacious open-air living and dining area is located at the ground floor and bedroom is on the second level with queen size bed.
La Playa (Beachfront) @ Puerto Del Sol
A delightful lunch comprises of a bowl of hot, creamy soup and Bangus Cordon Bleu with veggie on the side was served at the La PLAYA hotel’s restaurant. The hotel can set up a romantic dinner for you and your loved ones. In fact, there’s a wedding reception booked that evening. Check out the photo below. Imagine, dinner by the bay for two or perhaps a romantic wedding proposal done here. What do you think?
What I like most in Puerto del Sol is being close to nature and I found complete solitude away from home, in the city. I realized, the lack of WIFI inside the room gave me more time to simply enjoy my stay, relaxing at my room’s small veranda.
In just 24 hours we discovered the beauty of Puerto del Sol, its nearby attractions that made me stand in awe-the majestic sunset and sunrise, the clear waters and golden sand.
I was amazed when I saw Patar Light House, Patar White Beach, Sea Cave and Wonderful Cave.
Read my blog of Patar Sea Cave here.
Take a peek of my next post, the Wonderful Cave
