There are places we keep coming back because of their dish or probably the restaurant’s overall atmosphere and of course, their warm and friendly staff.
Known with their best seller SUAHE or KINILAW, (a Filipino appetizer made of seafood usually raw fish with vinegar, black pepper, ginger and onion) RK Garden originating from Tagum, Davao del Norte opens their first restaurant in Manila at the heart of Makati along Jupiter Street.
The owners, Rose with the help and supervision of her Singaporean husband took pride in redefining the usual Chinese restaurants by incorporating specialty dishes in their menu. The name RK, simply stands for “Rose Kinilaw”, because of her famous kinilaw and suaje served in her “garden” restaurant in Tagum, Davao del Norte. With several years of making kinilaw, the master dish gave them the idea of opening a Chinese Restaurant and name it RK Garden. The addition of these specialty dishes, the kinilaw gave me an impression that RK Garden is not an ordinary Chinese restaurant. They see to it that they serve only authentic Chinese cuisine that passed their standards.
The menu offers a wide selection of Chinese specialty dishes from seafood to pork and beef down to vegetables, noodles and congee. Of course, they have Yang Chow Fried rice and Shanghai Fried Rice, too!
Century Egg with Seaweed (P180) was good. On the other hand, SUAHE and KINIILAW (P198 to P396) knocked out that evening.

Lapu-lapu Steamed with Soy Sauce is another dish you must try. The owners make sure that they only serve the freshest seafood and use only the finest ingredients.

Huge crabs cooked to perfection are the best thing we had that night, Steamed Crab with Garlic and Baked Crab with Ginger and Onion. My husband and I loves the Steamed Crab than the baked one.
Patatim (P598) was okay. Serving is huge, it could be shared by 3-4 persons.
We also had RK Green Seafood Soup (P298-P596), RK Special Chopsuey and Fried Spareribs with Salt and Pepper.
I think we missed the last part of the meal, dessert! Chinese restaurants usually offer buchi, mango pudding and almond jelly. I wonder what would be their best seller, RK’s special dessert. I would definitely try one on our next visit. For the beverages, they have fruit shakes and RK’s Special Red Iced Tea made from kamote tops.
All in all, we had a wonderful meal. RK Garden also has function rooms for your events and family Sunday meals. They also have SET MENUS starting at P2,800. The restaurant is located near EDSA and walking distance from MRT Station.
