Green Bean Organic Coffee (P65) |
I became interested in organic food when we visited an organic farm in Majayjay, Laguna sometime last year upon the invitation of Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Training Institute. After several months, we had another organic farm tour in Benguet and Sagada (certified by OCCP) growing vegetables and coffee, respectively. I believe these things called 'organic' are not new to most of us. We've seen them on televisions, people talked and blogged about it. Restaurants, wellness stores and facilities and even weekend destination are now offering 'organic' food. But have you heard of a P65 organic coffee in town? If yes, congratulations, I might be one of the few who recently heard about it. Thanks to a fellow blogger for inviting me to join them in an organic coffee tour one rainy Saturday morning.
Green Bean Coffee, Hotel H20, Manila
I didn't know I'v been passing by Green Bean Coffee in their NAIA Terminal 3 branch. I mean, I've been in and out of the airport for more than five times this year. Perhaps, I was too focused on familiar food chains and coffee shops that I didn't even notice it or maybe I was afraid to look at their menu.
I always wanted to grab a cup of coffee but never did I noticed Green Bean Coffee which is standing at the second floor of Terminal 2 of the departure area opposite Jollibee, very near Yellow Cab pizza and Kopiroti.

It was merely three years ago the last time I went Manila Ocean Park. We watched spectacular musical fountain show and ate at Makansutra but my recent short trip at Hotel H20 was about discovering USDA-certified organic coffee.
We arrived around 8:30 in the morning (when I usually have a cup of brewed coffee and a glass of warm milk for hubby at home). But since we're in the Green Bean Hotel H20 branch, J skipped a glass of milk for a mug of rich, creamy, organic Green Bean coffee. He said he likes it!
The store has a nice and cozy interior. Aside from serving organic coffee and using Muskovado sugar. Considering the environment-friendly, they also used recycled wood, less plastic and limited industrial printing.
They also served us classic 1930's savory panini grilled ensaymada (P130), really yummy!
We visited five (5) branches of Green Bean Coffee - Hotel H20 in Manila, the soon-to-open full-store along Pasong Tamo Extension, 2nd floor NAIA Terminal 3, a kiosk at Saint Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City and another full-store in New Manila, just a few blocks away from the hospital.

Green Bean Coffee, YMC Building, Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati
Our next stop which will open its doors to the public anytime between August and September is located along Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati, in the YMC Building to be more precise. It's situated just beside White Space, a famous events place. We had another refreshing drink called Gangnam Cooler using Honey Citron Tea made from Yujae fruit, a product available in countries such as Japan and Korea but I spotted one in a Korean store along Timog, Quezon City when I was looking for husband's office table.

Civet Coffee at Green Bean Coffee
We were welcomed with prepared cups of organic Green Bean Coffee and hot Tsokolate but I guess the star of the afternoon was the CIVET coffee.Civet Coffee at Green Bean Coffee |
Known as one of the expensive coffees in the world, Civet Coffee comes from Civet Cat's poop. The coffee berries are eaten by Civet Cat, pooped out, gathered and cleaned before they roasted and served to our tables. Now, for only P130 I can have a cup of rich, smooth and flavorful yet not to bitter civet coffee at any branch of Green Bean Coffee. How about the smell? Of course, the rich aroma coffee!
How far do you need to travel and how much do you need to spend to taste authentic Civet coffee? I had my first cup of Civet coffee when I was in Davao. If I'm not mistaken I paid P150 for a cup. I heard, others sold it at P200 per cup. We're fortunate that Green Bean Coffee Company brings organic coffee and Civet Coffee in Manila at a very reasonable price. Everyone deserves a cup of coffee!
They are also serving snacks such as sandwiches. I heard their bagels are good I just didn't bother to order because I'm so full coming from heavy lunch at B & T, stay tuned for the blog post.
