Jun Lana's Barber's Tales

Last week, I was at Wheatberry cafe for the media launch of the movie Barber's Tales. I met Jun Robles Lana, playwright, screenwriter, TV and director. Not too long, winner of the People's Choice Award for Best Actress at the 2012 Asian Film Awards for the role in The Woman in the Septic Tank, versatile actress Eugene Domingo arrived.

Barber's Tales is a heartwarming full-drama movie played by Eugene Domingo which advocates women's triumph against ridicule. Award winning film, The Barber's Tales will be shown in the Philippines on August, 2014.

Plot: Barber's Tales

Set in the 1970, a widow inherits the town's only barbershop from her husband, a business that has been passed down by generations of men in her husband's family. With no other means of support, she musters the courage to run the barbershop. Despite the skills she gained from years of observation and assisting her husband, as a female barber she fails to attract any customers.

Eugene said the film came to her at the right time.
"As a Filipino, baka may magagawa at maitutulong sa pagbubukas sa kahit anong aspeto sa mga manood."
Set in 1970's during the Martial Law, the social and moral issues of the time and the life of a widow, Marilou (Eugene Domingo) will en kindle the audience's conservative beliefs and ideas about women, her strength and liberty. I'm looking forward watching this film.

Sharing you the trailer.

Prior to production, Barber’s Tales won 4 awards, including Best Project, at the 2013 Hong Kong Asia-Film Financing Forum, an annual project market for international filmmakers and financiers.
