A Meaningful Christmas

I began my journey with Habitat For Humanity Philippines in November of 2014 as Habitat Online Champion. In addition to being a volunteer and rendering humanitarian work, I am also helping Habitat for fundraising. Part of my duties as Habitat Online Champion is seeking the help of kindhearted individuals, friends, relatives and dear readers to donate. There are several rebuild activities, one is the typhoon Haiyan appeal, a big challenge to help victims of typhoon Yolanda. 

Habitat Rebuild Philippines aims to solve the shelter needs of communities as quickly as possible through distribution of shelter pair kits for 30,000 families, and building 30,000 core house/shelter units. Help us rebuild now! - See more at: Give To Habitat

Last Christmas, we visited two communities in Taguig for the Pamaskong Handog (gift giving) project.

Just before the break of dawn, my husband and I were ready for a whole day of community service. Together with the team, we arrived at FTI, Taguig around 8 am and set-up the venue. Joining us in this humanitarian work was Daichi Corporation. 

Habitat For Humanity Philippines together with Daichi Corporation prepared Noche Buena gift packs for selected families. The program started with a short prayer and thanksgiving followed by games.

At 1pm we're ready for the second community visit in Pinagsama Taguig. While waiting for the families and their kids, our group personally made welcome and Christmas posters and arranged the Pamaskong handog. I took the opportunity to talk to the mothers. They even invited us to see their homes and gladly shared their Habitat stories.

I found the true meaning of Christmas in extending a helping hand; in giving time for others and sharing the blessing I received. I found the true meaning of Christmas in every smile I received from the children.
