Sister Talk: That One Little Pill

My sister and I were talking about pregnancy while enjoying our lunch date at the newly opened Sambokojin in SM Fairview (will tell you more about the food on Seats For Two). She has two kids, ages 10 and 8. While I still don't have my own, I love listening to her pregnancy and family planning stories. Most are funny, some are crazy, and others are quite scary.

I asked her why she thinks women take that little pill. She said, there are many reasons why one is prescribed with an oral contraceptive pill.

One is to prevent pregnancy. It is also given to treat hormonal imbalances. Whatever the reason, of course, it is best to consult an OB-Gyne and tell her your medical condition and history.

Obviously, there are many pregnancy pills in the market. She also pointed that there's a brand of pill that causes frequent headaches so she stopped taking it.

She also shared her insights about natural family planning method such as the use of calendar method and more.

I suddenly remembered the family planning talk I attended a couple of months ago where the importance of family planning and preventing sexually transmitted disease were discussed.

You can read my previous post here.

Pills such as Drospirenone and Ethinylestradiol are known contraceptive pills. Lizelle cost P 629 and Liza at P 600. Same Drospirenone and Ethinylestradiol and also made in Europe.

Liza is one of the newer types of pills. The remember the speaker mentioning that it doesn't cause water retention leading to bloating. It also reduces the tendency to have oily skin which can cause acne.

Personally, I haven't used contraceptive pills because hubby and I are wanting to have kids anytime. We'll just wait for that God's perfect time. What are your thoughts about family planning and contraceptive pills?
