Aviary Island at Island Cove Cavite |
Enroute to Cavite from 6750 Makati our meeting place, it took us only an hour to reach Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park via Cavitex. The proximity to Manila makes Island Cove one of the recommended resorts near Manila especially for people who hates long trips.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Island Cove Cavite will be offering new and exciting summer activities for kids and kids-at-heart.
Aviary Island Tour
Why not explore the wild side and learn more about the birds. Our day tour started with an up-close and personal encounter with animals. The Aviary Island is home of more than 20 different kinds of animals from rabbits, iguana, monkey, and a 200 pounds python. We enjoyed watching variety of birds. I did not let the day pass without having a selfie again with the ostriches (read my story about Dacara farm here).

Fishing Village
I always look forward and excited to have lunch at the Fishing Village, a hidden gem in Island Cove Hotel. Their great food selection and alfresco dining with the view of Manila Bay and Oceania Swim and Splash Park are always worth the trip.

Go Karting, Horseback Riding, and Mermaid Swimming
After lunch, it's time to explore the newest attractions. At a very affordable rates, guests are invited to try their go pedal karting, horseback riding, and mermaid swim.
I've tried horseback riding many times, not the professional horseback riding though just a beginner for fun and experience. Theirs was very nice, we walked around with the guide a few steps away.
Horseback riding rates: Php50 for 15 minutes |
I don't know how to swim but I love lounging under the shade of trees in bathing suit. Of course, I made sure to try and experience wearing the mermaid tail. Good thing, the staff were friendly. She even assisted me to go down the pool for an amazing mermaid swimming experience. You must swim with confidence and comfort while wearing the mermaid tail. I wore the blue, glittering mermaid tail with matching mermaid crown. Ako daw ang reyna ng karagatan.
Ocean Conservation Advocate, Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver and Freelance Mermaid Performer, Amarie and her school of fellow mermaids will let you don a tail and learn how to swim like a mermaid. Each session runs for two hours.
Changing rooms are easily accessible with several cubicles for shower and toilet. That would not be a problem during peak season. After the mermaid swim, we checked out the four giant slides leading to one huge swimming pool of different levels.

Refreshments & Tasty Meals at Sangley Point
Capping our day tour was a tasty spread served at Sangley Point, the restaurant located few steps from the pool next to Splash Park. We had pasta, burger, paella, and refreshing beverages.
Sangley Point has new dishes to offer - Starters Platter, Buffalo Chicken Burger, Linguine al Vongole, Rigatoni al Salmone, and the Madras Style Vegetable Curry.
This Chicken Parmigiana (Php350) served with Italian spaghetti aglio olio pepperoncino topped with crisp breaded chicken breast with mozzarella cheese and fresh marinara sauce is my favorite.
