Meet Avara Nature and Yacht Club's Board of Advisors

Palawan has been voted one of the world's best island. It's the home of many top tourist destinations like Coron, El Nido, the famous Underground River just to name a few.

I've been to Palawan about four times in the last five years. Even if I've been to Palawan a couple of times, there's always something new to discover. There are still hidden parts of the island that we have not seen yet and we look forward to discover in the future.

Avara, a leisure nature and yacht club in Palawan’s first capital of Taytay, recently opened its doors to lovers of lush sea and surf, catering best to families who are out for lavish, well-deserved vacation. This topflight leisure club is established by Seaside Premier Development Corporation and is guided by no less than big-name board of advisors who are experts in the field of deluxe seaside recreation, to ensure that Avara’s clientele receive only topnotch service.

Rear Admiral Joel Sarsiban Garcia, Coastal and Marine Management Advisor

Leading the roster is Rear Admiral Joel Sarsiban Garcia who serves as the advisor for Coastal and Marine Management. Mr. Garcia works under the Office of the President serving as the Executive Director of the National Coast Watch Center. He is also the Deputy Commandant for the Philippine Coast Guard and the Chairperson of the Singapore-based Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia Governing Council. He has a Masters of Science in Maritime Safety Administration degree from the prestigious World Maritime University in Sweden.

Col. Eugene Osias, Security Affairs advisor 

Serving as advisor of the Security Affairs is Col. Eugene Osias. A member of the Class of 1994 of the prestigious Philippine Military Academy, Col. Osias is the Commanding Officer of 7CMO Battalion and is also the Assistant Chief of Staff for the Civil Military Operations, while also serving as G7 & Division Spokesperson of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division of the Philippine Army. Col. Osias has trained for various security-related courses in Australia and the United States and even received his Masters in Military Strategy from Bangladesh University of Professionals.

Ms. Regina Barleta, Port Management and Shipping Advisor

For Port Management and Shipping, Ms. Regina Barleta is chosen as one of the advisors of the Board for her many years of expertise in the field of port management. The former Chairwoman of Maersk Filipinas Health, Safety, Security, and Environment, Ms. Barleta is currently the Commissioner of the Shipping Sector of the Cebu Port Authority. She is also a consultant for Le Soleil Shipping Agencies, Inc. and other shipping companies like Skylink International, Sky International, Sky Best, MCC Transport Philippines, MCC Transport International.

Ms. Ma. Teresa Bigornia, Marketing Advisor 

The advisor for the Marketing Sector, on the other hand, is Ms. Ma. Teresa Bigornia. She has been elected President of the 81-year-old premier real estate organization Manila Board of Realtors, Inc. for 2019. The Manila Board of Realtors is the oldest real estate organization not only in the Philippines but throughout Asia. A licensed Real Estate Broker for almost 30 years, Ms. Bigornia has also passed the exams for Appraiser and Consultant. She is also the owner and principal broker of a successful real estate marketing and brokerage firm, Land Treasures Realty, which she established in 1995.

Mr. John Anthony Calub, Sales Advisor 

Sales guru Mr. John Anthony Calub is no less the advisor for Sales considering his six prolific years as top salesman in two corporations. A self-made multi-millionaire, Mr. Calub trained only with the best—world renowned gurus such as Tom Peters, author of the motivational best-seller “In Search of Excellence”, Sam Reese, CEO of Miller Heiman, the leading developer and provider of strategic sales process solutions for top corporations in the U.S., and Martha Rogers, author of the ground breaking international best-seller, “One-to-One Marketing, Building Relationships One Customer at a Time.”

Chef William Anthony “Billy” King, Culinary Arts Advisor 

Food is one of the reasons why we travel. Culinary Arts, Chef William Anthony “Billy” King joins the team. Proudly associated with the Avara as its Culinary Arts Collaborator, Chef Billy has a long history in the hospitality industry in many international destinations. He also was part of the Hotel Intercontinental Manila and founder of Truffles, Le Soufflé, PaperMoon Restaurants as well as Le chef at the famed Manor Camp John Hay, Baguio City. Chef Billy owes his success to his unbridled passion and continued pursuit of excellence and believes that quality and consistency are keys in our quest for perfection.
