Twelve years ago, my husband and I got married in a beautiful garden wedding ceremony in Manila. After a year of dating and more than six months engagement, we sealed the deal. It was a joyous day!

Like any other marriage, ours was also tested with trials and misunderstandings. I can still remember the first two years were the challenging ones. We argue a lot and most of the time, on petty things. Until we agreed and learned to adjust, compromise and settle the issues. One of the things I learned in our marriage is to speak and express how I feel instead of him making guesses. I learned to be more specific of what I want and go straight to the point.

For many years, I didn't think marriage was for me... then Jonel came. God gave me exactly what I needed. His positive mind-set and patience inspired me to change my perspective and deal with my anger problem. When I need someone to burst out my feelings, he's there to listen.
Twelve Years and counting...
After 12 years, I didn't realize the significant change... that we could be a better couple. It is fascinating to see how things unfolded in a decade of marriage. We are blessed to see each each other through seasons of disappointments, stress and even illness. To balance our busy schedule, we travel and go for an adventure. We love discovering new places and treat our palates with different flavors. While he enjoys his ice cream, I'm taking my sweet time to drink my coffee.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a lovely lunch at the modern Filipino restaurant, Casa Buenas in Newport World Resorts. It's a beautiful restaurant with modern interior design - high ceiling, elegant chandeliers and curtains, gorgeous flowers and a huge wine cellar.

We ordered some of my favorites such as the delicious pork sinigang in coconut shell and sinugba (roast chicken with fried, crispy pork skin). For appetizers, we tried the La Queso de Fonduta, melt-in-your-mouth cheese baked with fresh grapes and cherry tomatoes. It comes with superb gourmet delights - US angus beef, veggies and bread. For sweet endings, of course we had bibingka, an all time favorite Filipino delicacy and banana choco pie.

Our anniversary continues with a relaxing staycation at Savoy Hotel Manila, we got our room at less than P5,000/night. Check out the room rates here.
We also took the chance to visit the health club to relax at the sauna and steam room. It felt good afterwards, natanggal ang mga lamig ko sa katawan. Breakfast comprises of Filipino delicacies like puto, bread pudding, lomi, congee and the usual scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon.

Marriage is like a spiritual journey. It makes you strong, hopeful, loving and forgiving. We believe that marriage only works if there's three of you - wife, husband and God in the center of your relationship.
